StrataSphere is made entirely of brass, copper and stainless steel, all materials that will not rust. Machined brass couplings and stainless screws are used at crucial joints for added strength and serviceability.
All joints (104 total) are silver-brazed by hand for extraordinary strength. Precision stainless steel ball bearings are used at all ten pivot points for friction-free movement.
Each sculpture is meticulously hand-polished. All elements are carefully balanced to move with the slightest breeze, yet withstand very high winds as well. StrataSphere is designed and built to last a lifetime. To see various installations, click here.
